Located in the southeastern part of the state, Milford is a clean, friendly community with all the benefits of small town living, yet less than twenty miles from the city of Lincoln, our state's capitol. Milford is just three miles south of Interstate 80 for quick access to both Lincoln and Omaha.
Approximately 2,000 people live in Milford, a growing community with new housing developments. An additional 1,000 full-time students attend the Milford campus of Southeast Community College, which has provided technical and vocational training since 1941 and annually places 99% of its graduates soon after graduation.
The Milford Public School District is well-known for its excellence. Milford and Pleasant Dale Elementary Schools were built in 1975, and serve 368 students. The main portion of the Junior-Senior High School was built in 1960, with classroom additions in 1987. In 2002, a new auditorium/gymnasium complex was completed. This school serves around 346 students and offers a full range of class and extracurricular offerings. Medical services are excellent in Milford. The Milford Family Medical Center opened in 1998, expanded in 1999 and again in 2003. Dr. Robert Wergin, MD, Dr. Barbara Frohner, MD and Cindy Mehlin, PAC plus other medical personnel staff the clinic. Milford Dental Click offers complete dental services and a full-service pharmacy is open six day s a week. An excellent chiropractic center offers professional, full-spine care using the Gonstead technique. Two nursing homes, Crestview Care Center and Sunrise Country Manor, receive consistently high rating in state inspections and are committed to community involvement.See Health& Dental.
Milford has many benefits for seniors. The Milford Senior Center is a favorite gathering place for seniors and also houses the Director of Aging office for Seward County. Beautiful and convenient Linden Village offers housing for the elderly or handicapped. See Public/Human Services.

From community-minded groups such as the Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanas, American Legion and Auxiliary, Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, Friends of the Library and Booster Club for adults to 4H, K-Kids Club, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, Midget Football and FCA for youth, Milford has an organization for everyone. The Milford Swimming Pool is welcome refreshment for summer fun, and city recreation programs offer several opportunities for team sports like soccer, baseball and softball. Two city parks offer playground and picnic facilities for large groups and small gatherings. Welch Park Ballfield Complex houses three ball fields and a refreshment stand. Also available are basketball courts, tennis courts and a sand volleyball court. Thornridge Golf Course is a challenging nine-hole, grass-greens course.
